The kitchen has forever been the heart of the home. Families gather there to begin their day and also to end their day with good food, good conversation and a chance to spend time with each other.
Harris Farm has been sharing meals, conversation and memories for more than a century. The farm began as a humble home for 12 family members and today continues the legacy of farm and family living. Current resident Cherie Martin and chair person of the Habitat for Humanity cookbook fundraiser will share recipes from Harris Farm and the Habitat cookbook.
In the south we share recipes, we share meals and we share sad times and happy times. Good food is a great way to break the ice with a new neighbor, comfort someone during hard times, and to bring a smile to a face when your grandchild smells their favorite cookies baking. It would be wonderful if the audience could smell the wonderful scents coming from the kitchen... the heart of the home.

Heart of the Home Cooking Show is seen weekly on ETC 3 NORTH GEORGIA NOW. ETC is a local cable channel with coverage from Ball Ground Georgia to Ducktown Tennessee. Lori Tipton produces the segment that features quick and fun recipes. Lori began her career at WSB-TV in Atlanta before returning to the North Georgia mountains where she grew up. ETC 3 offers local programming and truly lives their slogan Neighbors Serving Neighbors.

Cherie Martin spends much of her day giving back to the community and as a member of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity Pickens County chaired the committee to produce the Pickens County HFH cookbook. Thus Heart of the Home was born. Lori interviewed Cherie about the cookbook and soon the two were cooking at Harris Farm. Meals, laughter and many hours of hard work Heart of the Home began its second year in January 2007. The farm has been home to many good meals and through this website we hope to bring a smile to your face and to help you recall days gone by when life was simpler.
