Heart of the Home away from home began when I realized how expensive it was to eat out while traveling. I can remember the travels we made with our 5 children and how I knew the waitress loved to see us coming. Big bill………big tip.
In our travels for each segment I budgeted, pre-cooked and planned our meals. Our travels have taken us to Butts Mill Farm in middle Georgia. The mountains of Tennessee and the beautiful river front in Bryson City, North Carolina.
Great food, great friends and a time to relax. Our traveling menus are as simple as Salmon grilled on the river and as “complicated” as Granny’s Chicken and Dumplins’.
I shop for items on sale before I plan our menus and I use items easy to store and travel with. I promise you… a cooler, chicken on sale, and yes even ribeyes on sale you can travel, eat great and do it on a budget.
A special thank you to my “crew”and the special guests who have helped make this year so much fun. I am lucky enough to have the world’s best prep and clean up crew and smart enough to know without them we could not pull off the miracle cooking we do in the short amount of time we have. Thank you, thank you and thank you again. Heart of the Home began as a way to promote our Habitat for Humanity Cookbook and raise awareness of the ongoing effort to provide good, affordable housing for those who could not afford it otherwise. Thank you to each person who has purchased a cookbook and to our viewers who tune in weekly to learn quick and easy recipes.
I love hearing from you and am so honored that you continue to support us through cookbook sales.
Tune in each Thursday night at 7:30 and again at 11:30 and remember Friday mornings at 7:30 also. If you are out of our viewing area you can catch us on ETC3 North Georgia Now website and click on streaming video. How simple is that……… like one of our recipes. We promise to continue to bring you recipes that anyone can do. Easy, simple and using items you already have in your pantry or refrigerator.
With many blessings and best wishes,
Cherie Martin
