Remodeling

While remodeling Harris Farm I made two smart moves. I hired a wonderful contractor who turned my ideas into exactly what I had in mind. I was so happy to see the ideas I wasn’t quite sure about become the perfect finished item. The second smart move I made was to have many antiques refinished and find just the right spot for them. Tommy Boswell the contractor and Don Perry the furniture refinisher made my dreams come true. Don turned old doors into the most beautiful dining room table I have ever seen and Tommy designed a way to display my Jewell Tea collection. I’m a lucky lady to know such wonderfully talented men!

Remodeling a farm kitchen was a challenge. New wiring, new plumbing and lucky me lots of COCA COLA decorating. Use the items you love when decorating. I love old dishpans and I love ROOSTERS. Combine Coca Cola, Roosters, old kitchen ware and a great kitchen is born. Fun, fresh and VERY interesting. Remember a little bit of the past and a little of the present. Granny's plate and my new JOHN DEERE plates. Simple.

When remodeling our farm I wanted something a little different in the tiny bathroom that was on the back porch…imagine that…I bought a dirt cheap mirror at a yard sale and decorated it with rope, dried flowers and sunflowers. Added just what the "little" bathroom needed. A little color, a little usefulness and a little whimsy. Cute and inexpensive. I also pick up small mirrors at the craft store and use them with Christmas decorations.
